No more baby teeth

Both Sophie and Monty has lost their baby teeth. I was hoping that Monty’s would fall out while he’s biting me…the odds should be pretty good since he does nothing but bite (and whine), haha…at least it doesn’t hurt as much now. Sophie has been acting like an old cat recently and she rarely moves, while Monty is usually jumping up and down her, pissing her off. =P

I don’t know why Monty is still so boney, but he is at the right weight for his age…maybe he is just skinny by breed. He eats 3 times as much as Sophie and still, nothing but skin and bones…it seems like Sophie has been putting on his weight…she is huge now!

We got another kitten…and we moved! June was an interesting and very, very busy month for us. We got Monty shortly before we had to move, so everything was a mess, both the living room and bedroom were filled with boxes and loose items, most of which we decided to donate…because there were just too much stuff we don’t need anymore.

We separated Sophie and Monty for about a week before we introduced them. Monty was scared at first but eventually got used to Sophie and vice versa…although Sophie was much calmer by nature I guess, since she didn’t hiss or growl as much as Monty did. It’s been a month now and look at them now! I was a little surprised because Monty was still being a punk just a day before I took this picture. =P

Monty, Monty, Monty…what are we going to do with him? So cute and adorable but hyper and bity at the same time. It hurts to cuddle with him when he is excited. I’m so glad Sophie and Monty have each other to play with, and I just hope Monty doesn’t outgrow Sophie…because he is so going to sit on her when he gets big, heh.

Sophie passed out on Sunday after getting her vaccine, but this will be the end of her weekly visit to the vet, since she is now completely healthy …almost. We were concerned that Sophie appeared lethargic and unwilling to eat, but the crazy kitten syndrome kicked in just in time when we were making the cake last night…we had to take turns to play with her and pull her out of the fridge, dish washer, cabinets and basically anything she can crawl into. Still, this is much better than seeing her just sitting with her head down, looking extremely sad early that day.

Sophie’s Big Adventure

This weekend we took Sophie with us to San Francisco for a wedding, and it was her first car ride that’s longer then 30 minutes. We rehearsed a couple of times, taking her on increasingly longer car rides, but usually no more then her limit. Surprisingly Sophie did pretty well in the car…she only cried for 20 minutes and settled down right after. She slept most of the trip, and occasionally woke up to play a little. I guess we are pretty lucky that she didn’t freak out and starts running around like crazy, so getting her used to car rides as a kitten is a very wise thing to do, heh.

Sophie loves my parents house, jumping up and down on their many couches and hiding underneath them when she is tired. My dad was so scared of her scratching the new couch and keeps asking me does she know where the litter box is…yes, we have never had cats before. =P I think my parents really liked her, since she is very quite and sleeps most of the time, and my mom even mopped the floor so Sophie wouldn’t turn into a dust ball every time she comes out of her hiding place. Staring into the glass window is another favorite activity of Sophie’s while at my parents house, and she would look at it intently for hours…maybe she misses her siblings, or maybe she really wants to get out and eat all the bugs that are taunting her.

It’s been a week since we got Sophie home from the shelter, and she has been such a little punk~haha, running around the house like she owns the place. I miss the first night when we thought she was a timid little kitten, too afraid to jump on the bed to sleep with us…she just sat on the chair in the middle of the night and meowed at us, which is just about the cutest thing ever! Now we can’t keep her off the bed and her attempts to wake me up by headbutting me, but how can I stay mad at her? Just look at her innocent little face..

We took her to the vet on Saturday and found out she was a little sick, but the veterinarian said this is normal for kittens if they came from a shelter. Sophie is taking two kinds of oral medication, and of course she takes advantage of our inexperience by squirming around and crying loudly when we tried to feed her the medicine…what happened to the mellow cat that gulped down the medicine like it was water from the vet? I’m looking forward to the next 20 days when we have to hand feed her the good stuff twice a day, heh.
